Picture this, after weeks of tense searching for a coveted shipment of semiconductors you find a seller. They have an order for semiconductors ready to ship out in less than three weeks, far sooner than any of your normal vendors. Some of your usual vendors are even on backorder and you’ve been facing the awful decision of shutting down production as you wait for one tiny part to complete your product.

Let’s be honest, finding an electronic component distributor is hard. There are hundreds operating in the United States alone that promise quality components with fast lead times. Now more than ever before, the need for an electronic component distributor is a necessity.
July 1st has come and gone marking the start of 2H 2022, the second half of the year. At the start of 2022, expectations for electronic components were cautiously optimistic and generally positive. Certain lead times had stabilized and while there would be challenges throughout 1H 2022, the outlook from experts saw steps toward recovery.
U.S. domestic production of semiconductors is at an all-time low. In the 1990s, the U.S. share of manufacturing capacity was once 37%. Now, it is a small 12%. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has been aware of this gap and is commending actions made by the Biden Administration to rectify it.
A lot of things have changed over the past few years. Global shortages have had a major impact on the way the world’s many supply chains function. It comes as no surprise that electronic components and the electronics industry have needed to re-examine their earlier legacy systems.
The definition of supplier diversity and its function in the supply chain are a little different today. Introduced in 1953 alongside the establishment of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), supplier diversity programs were created to aid small and minority-owned businesses in securing government and major corporate contracts.
With gas prices continuing to soar at sky-high levels, more U.S. consumers are considering fuel-efficient vehicles to save money, according to recent data reported by TIME. It states that 40% of Americans now expect to own an electric vehicle (EV) in the next five years, up from 30% last year, citing a study from automotive research firm CarGurus. Even Google searches for electric cars are breaking records – up by more than 400% in the U.S. last March.
One of the most common fears that people have is that of spiders, according to BBC’S Science Focus. Spindly insects with long legs and dozens of eyes either come in at number one on many top ten fears lists or a close second. Snakes, heights, and public speaking are prevalent fears among people. Medical technology manufacturers also have a common fear, but it’s not of needles, closed spaces, or germs.
