Picture this. You’ve plugged in your new refrigerator into an electrical outlet. But then, something happens. A faint burn smell fills the air. Smoke starts rising from behind the appliance. A small fire is about to break out. You get the picture. This scenario is something the team at SETsafe | SETfuse works hard to prevent. The manufacturer of circuit protection solutions and components is known for their innovative solutions for high standard safety and protection.
To prevent overheating and melting of electrical electronic equipment, potential fire hazards and other circuit failures, SETsafe | SETfuse recently launched a new line of overcurrent/over temperature combination protection solutions, like the Thermal-Link & Fusing Resistor (TRXF), a unique type of power resistor.
The SETsafe | SETfuse TRXF has the same physical size as an ordinary Fusible Wiresound Resistor (RXF) and large fault current protection. But in comparison to the traditional RXF, the TRXF can effectively solve the hidden danger of continuous abnormal heat that the RXF might cause when a small fault current happens.
How Does the TRXF Work?
The TRXF is composed of three parts:
The solution offers this protection:
Under abnormal conditions, when the temperature reaches the fusing point, the fusible alloy (built-in alloy thermal-link) melts and quickly retracts to the two lead wire ends with the aid of the flux. This disconnects the circuit completely, causing a temperature drop in the TRXF.
TRXF can be used in the following applications:
